Doctor by the Universidad de La Laguna with the thesis D.M. Thomas y la renovación formal de la novela inglesa contemporánea 1989.
Full Professor of Anglophone Postcolonial Literatures at the Universidad de La Laguna, Tenerife, Canary Islands, interested in the relationship of the human being with his non-human environment, from eco-poetry, interactive observation of the landscape and the relation of the sensitive self with nature agent and eloquent. He has published several essays on contemporary authors such as John Fowles, D.M. Thomas, Salman Rushdie, Shyam Selvadurai, Sunetra Gupta, Jamie O’Neill, Ana Castillo, Sandra Cisneros, Abelardo Delgado, and Ricardo Sánchez, among others. He has edited The Painful Chrysalis. Essays on Contemporary Cultural and Literary Identity (Peter Lang 2011), Realidad y simbología de la montaña (UAH 2012) and co-edited Revolving Around India (s) (CSP 2019). He currently manages the Center for Canadian Studies, and publishes RCEI (Canary Islands Journal of English Studies) and Canadaria (Canary Islands Journal of Canadian Studies). He was elected president of EASLCE (European Association for Studies on Literature, Culture and the Environment) from 2014-2016, president of AEEII (Spanish Association for Interdisciplinary Studies on India) from 2014-2019 and is president of the Spanish Association James Joyce and vicepresident of SAAS (Spanish Association for American Studies).
