Elizabeth Woodward-Smith is Senior Lecturer in English Philology at the University of A Coruña, Spain. She holds a BA in English Philology and a PhD from the University of Santiago de Compostela. Previously she had a degree in Spanish and French at the University of Bradford (UK). Her research interests include the history and culture of the British Isles, cultural references in English literature, the translation of cultural concepts, the translation of humor and the linguistic and cultural analysis of advertising discourse.
Her publications have appeared in national and international journals. She is the editor of three collections of articles on cultural diversity: Aspects of Culture (2002), About Culture (2004) and Approaching Cultures through English (2007), all published by the University of A Coruña. She is co-editor of a volume entitled Pathways to Language, Culture, Communication and Identity (2016). She is a member of the research group Literatura y cultura inglesa moderna y contemporánea (CLIN) of the Department of Arts, UDC.
